Kristina Dulashaw-Swank has judged horse shows in
Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia.
Currently, she is judging Open Shows, 4-H Shows, Fairs
and Schooling Hunter/Jumper Shows.
"I think that one of the most important aspects of being a good judge is knowing and understanding how horses
and riders should perform in a particular class. The second important key is being professional, and being able
to provide positive feedback in a manner that will encourage riders to strive to improve their skills. As a judge,
I always try to provide positive feedback, especially in the Grooming and Showmanship and Equitation classes.
Although, if I see a rider making an obvious mistake in any class, I try to point it out to them and provide them
with ways to correct the problem."
Being a certified horse show judge through Penn State University has enabled Kristina to gain additional
training in the judging arena. She has consistently scored a perfect 100% on the written tests at Penn State
University’s Horse Judging School each time she has taken the exam.
"Knowing and understanding the rules of each and every horse show is imperative to keeping the show
organized and professional. Before I judge a show, I read the rules and design the patterns to be consistent
with that level of competition. I also try to keep the show moving along so that the pace fits the type of show."
